Tips and Strategies

  • Instead of moving WHOLE chords, think in terms of moving ONE note
  • Do the opposite of that. HOLD ONE NOTE and move the rest!
  • Decide which note you want to move and keep the other notes simple
  • Play strings as if you were arranging parts for a vocal quartet
  • Hold one note and move diatonically in opposite directions
