Note from C.L. Hanon:
- This exercise is written only in one octave. However, you may practice 2 octaves by starting one octave lower than how it's written. This No. 8 exercise introduces you to reaching the interval of 3rd with finger number 4 and 5.
Once you are able to play this on your own use the following tips to extend this lesson:
- Practice each hand separately first.
- It it better to practice this with staccato rather than legato
- Try to practice the Hanon Exercise in the other keys, starting with the white keys (C, D, E, F, G, A, and B) and then going to the black keys (D-flat, E-flat, G-flat, A-flat, and B-flat).
