FAQ
Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
Sean what are you favorite scales?
Well, up until last year I really liked the Dorian #4, the Harmonic Minor, and the Mixolydian b6. This year I'm really feeling the Dominant Diminished Scale, and I'm cracking something special with the modes of the Harmonic and Melodic Minor that I will probably reveal to the members soon
Do you have any musicians you are trying to transcribe?
Well duh, lol... I don't ask members to do anything I'm not doing, but if you if I was not transcribing for my channel I would probably transcribe Cory H, George Duke, Russell Ferrante, and some classical guys
What did you learn from this video?
Well, I learned that my practice schedule has to constantly change. It is not something that stays the same. I love learning new things, but I also know my weaknesses. The key is knowing those things you ARE NOT good at, and working on them relentlessly until you improve. Bottom line, that is what practice is
What scales do you think we need to master first?
I like this question and it actually has an easy answer. Learn every mode of every major key and you'll master hundreds of scales. In addition gospel musician cannot survive without the pentatonic and blues scales in every key
The guys you would like to sound like?
For style I'll take Joe Sample, Glenn Gibson, Herbie Hancock, and George Duke, for chords give me Doobie Powell, for runs give me Cory and Quennel Gaskins. There is so many more, I'll have to add them when I get a chance
