Intro to Theory

Summary:
Intervals follow a specific naming convention. There are named by their “Type” and “Number”
We use the following numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, and 13
We use the following types: major, minor, and perfect
Sometimes we will add: diminished and augmented as a way to describe the type of interval
Examples of Intervals:
minor 3rd –> m3
major 7th –> M7
perfect 4th –> P4
augmented 2nd
